How to Visit Box Canyon Falls in Ouray, Colorado
Box Canyon Falls (A.K.A Box Cañon Falls) in Ouray, Colorado is such a unique waterfall, unlike most waterfalls we have seen before. A spectacular geological formation, the 285-foot waterfall is tucked away between imposing granite walls, thundering its way through a very narrow gorge with power and force. This impressive waterfall is located inside Box Cañon Falls Park. Besides the waterfalls, you can also take a short hike to the top of the gorge for beautiful views of Ouray and the high peaks of the Amphitheater Cirque.

Just LOVE these views! Thank you for bringing memories back from our hike on Waimea Canyon! It was one of our favorite hikes-EVER! So the fall you were viewing was right before getting to a smaller (but still epic) waterfall you can swim in. We featured it in our Kauai video if you're interested in checking it out. It was so fun for us to see these gorgeous views through your fun perspective :)
I have lived in forks for 5 decades and I have never been to that side of the lake. I am now going to take my family! Thank you for sharing your video! ❤
Horseshoe lake loop trail. 7:47 is a great hike to start with. 👍🏽😊
Was it summer when you went to this ride? Because we’re going in the summer, and we wonder if we will see manatees.
So it’s pretty much like angels landing on steroids 😮😙
Yes with less chains.... Actually no chains 😂
Man i remember i went back in 2004 it was so cool had a ton of animals like a zoo and now it's like a ghost town
That's strange. I wonder what changed?
they did only half of the lazy river run, when you get to the big pool thats the middle of the river run and it will go another 10-15 minutes linger down river than walk back up via a paved trail. beautiful place!!
Now we need to go back and do the whole thing! That lightning probably wouldn't have let us do the full route anyways.
@@ThatAdventureLife jajaja. Also the lower part is not rocky like the upper partof the river but both are beautiful in their own ways!
@@user-rm7lw9lj6x Very cool! Thank you for letting us know about it! Now we need to go back! :)
Well done. Going g to make one for myself.
Thank you! Best of luck on your build!
Sol Duc Road is now closed during the winter, so unless you bike out there or walk the 14+ miles to the falls, the best flows that are accessible are in the Spring.
Thank you for the heads up!
We just hiked from the top down yesterday. Your video helped SO much. We watched it numerous times and found the trail and made it safely down thanks to your vid. We saw the tree in the upper section of the Subway but the one below is no longer there. Anyone know what happened to it?
That's so awesome! Wasn't it amazing!? So glad that our video could help. I'm assuming that a flash flood might have come through and taken the lower one away. Canyons are like living creatures and they are always changing. Glad you got to experience it!
Thanks for the quick reply and for the great vid again! Forgot to mention, we even took screenshots of your vid to reference as we made our way through. Such a help in making us feel comfortable doing this hike. 😊
@@greenepiece that's so cool! Thanks for letting us know. Always feels good to help people go on awesome adventures. That's why we started the channel 😎🤙
Curious how this has held up. Are you still using this?
They have done surprisingly well. We recently had our first break and it was one of the horizonal pipes that the kayaks rest on so it is an easy fix. One update that we did was to get some wheels off of a power Wheels car to make it easier to use in the sand.
Awesome. I'm going to make one similar. . I have a fishing kayak so it will weigh a bit more. We will see what happens. Thanks for the inspiration.
@@williamnelson2332 sure thing! Our crescents are about 75 pounds if that helps
Whats the trail tp get back to your car with a paddle board after the river?
Are you hoping to float downstream and pull out there or go out and back?

I found out I our little city Santa Paula Ca. have these Railbike $250 3 1/2 hrs. Might have try one day.
It's a fun way to take in some sights and get some exercise at the same time. The one out your way might have even better views 😁
seriously recording your girls ass
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Glad that you enjoyed it! :)
Nice video.
Thank you!
I'm sure you've made a conscious decision to say long "A" and "The", but it's really distracting. A normal, conversational "a" and "the" are entirely appropriate, and will improve the viewing experience.
I guess that's just my natural speech pattern. Never really noticed it before.
The dude i was with actually fell off of the ride on one of the turns and skinned his knees cause he didnt slow down the whole ride
Oh dang! That's pretty wild! I've gone down it with very little brakes but some of those turns are a lil bit sketchy to go wide open.
Leaving tomorrow for Mammoth with my wife and two girls for 5 days. Any recommendations for our first, easy, and beautiful hikes? Please let us know. Thanks for sharing!
Hey guys! I think it all depends on your skill level. Also depending on where you are coming in from you might need a day or so to acclimate before any major hikes.
I’m going there tomorrow and I’m Cuban so I’m really exited
Have a great time!!! 😎

They are called sand traps .
Tell the world and then hate how crowded the place has become! Brilliant!
i live in citrus and its a major part of my summer
That's awesome! We had a great time there! 😎🤙
Will go there for sure. Thanks!
Awesome! Enjoy it! 😎🤙
I just walked in and let my feet get wet in January. It was amazing. Nobody was there. I freaking loved it
Used to work at a guest ranch, and rode horseback through there a few times. Beautiful place
Did you guys tried to hike the Lanikai Pillbox Trail?
We did hike that one for sunrise. It is so pretty! Challenging in the dark though
Wow
It's a wild one for sure!
Nice!
Thanks man! It's so fun
Fr its pure beauty
Extraordinary!!
Thank you! 😎
We just went last week. I was honestly terrified at the top. A guy stood on the railing and my legs turned to straight jello!! He thought it was hilarious 😬 Besides that lol it was so incredible and Im so happy I got to experience those breathtaking views! I want to be back there!
We are proud of you for taking on your fears and standing victoriously at the top! It is way up there! Keep up the great work and here is to many more amazing views! :)
Awesome kayak trailer build!! Will be looking to build the same one! Question though, I don’t think the size was ever mentioned, what size trailer did you go with from Tractor Supply?
Oops sorry about that! We went with the 5x8. Good luck on your build!
It's an underrated gem and I've been twice. By combining Heart of Rock and Echo Canyon into a big loop you get a fantastic world class day hike as is mentioned here.
You are so right! It is absolutely gorgeous! We would love to go back and spend more time there.
Driving directions
You can find all the info at the link in the description
Where is the location you show at 7:12 at the end? I've seen at the end of several of your videos, and it looks really cool.
Hey Ryan, that is a spot called Alabama hills, it's located just outside of lone pine California. If you are ever out that way you should definitely check it out! It's beautiful! We have a couple videos about it on our channel too if you want to check them out. Hope you're enjoying the videos 🙂
@@ThatAdventureLife Will do, and thank you!
WOW I WISH I WAS THERE
It's a pretty amazing place for sure! ❤️
Does not seem to go very high solo, just 3 feet.
Once you get better at it, you can go all the way to the top. You usually stay lower when you are learning so you can communicate with the instructor.
So hey, check out my wife's butt. Oh, and there's a river down there too.
Wow!! Thanks so much for sharing this video; super helpful! Wanting to check this place out next month and bring family. Do you know if they allow inflatable kayaks at Newport Back Bay? Thanks!!
Glad we could help! It's a really fun place spot. I'm quite sure that there aren't any restrictions on what kind of kayaks you use. Just keep an eye on the weather. You can get strong afternoon winds there and you might be fighting a head wind on the way back
What’s the title of the background music?
its called Dreamy from thestoryshop
Anahulu STREAM. Thats what we locals have called it for 100 years. The MISSISSIPPI is a river.
Thanks for the heads up! It shows up as river on maps and everything so thats what we went with. 😎
Did you need to use state parking pass ?
I dont know if it is considered a state parking pass. but you do need to pay for parking.
beautiful video! Do you know if dogs are allowed on this hike?
Thank you! Yes dogs are allowed as long as they are leashed :)
Thanks to your video, this place is now on my bucket list for the Kanab area! :) I find it cool you give time estimates. This makes it easier to plan your day around it.
Glad you enjoyed the video! It's a pretty neat formation and definitely worth stopping by if you have time! 😁
Which trail did you do for the sunset pictures you got?
We didnt do the full hike, but the pictures were taken in the Alkali Flat Trail area.
